Harreveld anker closed institution

Assignment: renovation, rebuilding and expansion of the closed institution for juvenile offenders built in two phases in 1992 and 1996. The emphasis of the assignment was on restructuring the entrance area, achieving a good overview of the living areas, new functional layout, improvement of the fire safety and security, improvement of the indoor climate, increase of daylight illumination, expansion of office space and improvement of the character of the forecourt.

Unity between the existing building and the new additions was the objective, for which new additions are recognizably present. Installation of extensive technology required special attention. For both the interior and the exterior an appearance has been sought by means of the use of natural wood that is appropriate for the function.
