“Keeping it Modern” is the special subsidy the Getty Foundation provides for maintaining architecture of the twentieth century. This year the grant is granted to ‘Het Schip’ (meaning ‘The Ship’), outstanding monument of the Amsterdam School and designed by Michel de Klerk in 1917. Other recipients of the “grant in 2015″ include the Einstein Turm by Mendelssohn Potsdam, the Rietveld Schröder House in Utrecht and the Unity Temple by Frank Lloyd Wright.
With this grant further research can be done into the design of the unique ornaments of the building, the restoration of damaged and missing parts and the maintenance and development of a manual for the sustainable management of the complex.
